Yes, I’ve done both, of course, and the Rotovac leaves no damage if you’re using the conventional head and moderate damage with the brush head. If I’m using the brush head, the carpet is so bad that replacement is the only other option so it’s a moot point.
We ALWAYS follow up with a glided wand to remove the swirls.

I am new to VLM and absolutely a believer after cleaning over 350,000 sq ft with my Vibe so far. That said I would not even think about using my vibe in a customers home instead of my truck mount. I can think of a handful of homes I have cleaned with carpet that I would consider doing. All I have to do is walk upstairs at my house to be reminded what an OP can do. It does look amazing and even my wife thought it looked better than TM room I cleaned next to it. However the next day you couldn’t tell the difference as they were both dry and in a problem area where I did a little extra scrubbing with the vibe it messed up the carpet. Can’t really tell once it’s groomed but the carpet (cut pile) started separating. (Untwisting)
I could OP everything as I have the option but I know from personal experience and testing it out on several different types of carpets it’s not always the best option. OP is easier in certain cases and certainly way less overhead but that doesn’t make it better. Also I have about 2 customers a year that need their carpet dry asap. It’s very rare and if needed I will do extra dry passes and run fans. I’ll be making a bunch of money with the vibe in the next couple of weeks. It will be on cgd in buildings where it’s not practical to run my TM. Also there is no way I could be faster with an OP in a trashed room than I am with my TM. OP wins in large areas. Very large.

It's 2025 and VLM with 1-3 hour dry times is how carpets are cleaned today



After talking to customers about VLM a lot of times they then tell me their HORROR STORIES about the hours and hours of waiting for their carpets to dry after having them Steam Cleaned. Most of the time but not always by Stanley Steemer. One lady told me a story about how she had to get a shop vac and try to suck up water from her carpets after having them Steam Cleaned because they were so wet but that wasn't Stanley Steemer. It was Sears

I clean move outs for one Apartment Complex. They tell tenants not to clean the carpets themselves and not to have them Steam Cleaned especially from Stanley Steemer. They're tired of that musty odor and dingy looking carpet because of over wetting and long dry times. True story. I'm not making that up.

All apartments in the complex must be inspected by Township after a tenant moves out and before a new tenant moves in. One of the requirements to pass inspection is carpets must be cleaned. Complex doesn't want them Steam Cleaned. The tenant can get them professionally cleaned and must have receipt for proof or have the Complex have them cleaned. The Complex recommends me for the carpet cleaning. If tenant doesn't have them cleaned I clean them for Complex and payment gets taken out of tenants security deposit

Yes I know you guys do not do that kind of work but there are a lot of Steam Cleaners I call them SOAKERS out there giving all carpet cleaners especially Steam Cleaners a bad name. I take advantage of the SOAKERS and get more jobs promising 1-3 hour dry times.

Most customers today don't care about method. They just want clean dry carpet

Use it most time for prescrub. Carry it with blue brushes used often. Also carry white brushes for rugs and delicates. Also carry yellow for the worst of the worst dead zombie carpets.

Whittacker purchased years ago as a package with their crystal encap. Stuff last a life time. JiMmy was right.

I do some doctor offices and dentist offices and use Crystal Dry. No odor Green Seal Certified and does a great job

When using a CRB you must have the right brushes for the carpet




Brushes for 14'' Brush Master Pro 35 CRB

White is very soft and used for nylon

Grey is soft and used for abused nylon and polyester

Blue is medium standard brush that comes with CRB and used for abused polyester




A CRB with the right brushes is a must have for Residential Carpet Cleaning !!!

I went to a little local business expo in my county way back in my early years and I noticed chemdry had a booth there to advertise their business. So they put the VHS tape in this little tv to show their "process" of cleaning. Most of the video was all showing someone improperly cleaning carpet with a wand. they must've had that pressure turned up to 1200psi with how the water was spraying all out the side of the tool and was going so slow, allowing it to literally "Pressure wash" (not power wash) the carpet. It made me furious to see the corruption in false advertising. Look up yourself an older chemdry video

I agree, it isn't the 90's anymore. And today's truckmounts are wayyyyy better with more suction, better tools, (glides being one of the most important), better chemistry, and better education

Its always the operator not the method.

VLM is called other names too

Yes of course TM's are much better today than the 90's

But there are still a lot of SOAKERS out there and yes there are a lot of Diaper Spinners BUFFING carpet out there too

There are VLM'ers that go out and clean with just a Oreck Orbiter

Plenty of bad on both sides but I'm VLM so I use the SOAKERS to my advantage

I've been told that not all Stanley Steemers are that bad and I believe that. Like everything it depends on the owner but I get complaints about Stanley Steemer a lot. Your "Power Washing " term is cute. You gotta say what you gotta say to the customer I guess. But you are conveniently leaving out the extreme suction that a truckmount has removes the moisture that you falsely claim has been "power washed" into the backing. That's like saying rubbing your hands together with soapy water pushes the dirt deeper into your pores.

HWE leaves behind a lot of dirty water. The longer it takes to dry the more dirty water left behind. 4-6-8-12 hours to dry that's a lot of dirty water

We have all heard the stories about carpets taking 1-2 days to dry



VLM uses 60-70% less water than HWE

If done correctly VLM dry times are 1-2 hours in most cases
