If you live somewhere you don’t have anyone around to do repairs what truckmount setup would be easiest to do your own repairs?

Are most truckmount parts only available through the manufacturer

Ive found the old steamgeni pto's the easiest. You can see and reach every component virtually nothing is proprietary and you can completely tear down one with a screwdriver and a crescent wrench. There's a clutch on the engine, 2 bearings in the driveshaft, 3 belts on the machine a pressure pump (eighter hydra cell or hypro) a vacuum eighter a 45 or 47 small water box, heat exchanger and a simple solenoid for throttle. Chemical supplied by starvation. They generally last over 20 years and can easily out live the van below is a picture of my spare used it last week van is a 2000 3500 and has 201k on it and the machine is about to turn 11k hours. In 2018 i went to the Las Vegas trade show thinking i would replace it but the idea of replacing a perfectly good 19 year old machine with one with a life expectancy just slightly longer than the payment plan didn't set well with me. I went home took a 1998 steamgeni geni pto upgraded it slightly and installed it in a 2020 van. For about 10k less than the pos at the trade show and have soooo much more machine but thats me. My advice to someone buying a machine the acronym KISS comes to mind keep it simple stupid! And the simplest is probably the most reliableista

Steamaction would be my pick. I do not personally own one, but it will be my next machine for the exact reasons you posted. A conversation with Sammy would be worth your while. I don't believe there is any proprietary parts on them.

I’d be open to the possibility of a Steamaction but I’d still have to overcome the used car-snake oil persona he gave off early on. He’s probably no less trustworthy than anybody else though.
