Maybe so. My dad is Swedish/Norwegian and my mom is Italian/German. My last name was spelled and pronounced differently in Sweden. Something about it getting changed when they came over.

yeah theres lots of variant spellings as most couldnt write themselves so your spelling was given by how the registrars chose to spell it.

mines scottish background but does go back to Norway and the vikings
